Weekend Getaway

This past weekend Dave and I went down to St. George for a night...without Grace. It was our first night away from her and I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive about it. I tried to remember that she would be in Great hands with her Grammy and Pops and cousins around to entertain her, but I was freaking out a little. I gave Sally a ridiculously long paper with information about Grace and stressed about her having enough milk (since I still nurse her and she pretty much refuses to drink any formula). But in the end they of course took excellent care of her and I am told she was pretty happy while they had her(Thanks again!!!).
After the initial worry I was able to calm down and have a good time away with Dave. We went down fro Dave's work party, so we have known and been looking forward to this for awhile. They put us up in a hotel and got us tickets to Christmas in the Canyon at the Tuacahn amphitheater. We had dinner with his work people, so I was happy to match some faces to the names I had been hearing. After the concert we just vegged out in the hotel with Jared and Danielle (we shared a room). On Saturday morning Dave and Jared went golfing with the men from work and Danielle and I went shopping. At noon we hopped in the car, got a couple Jimmy John's sandwiches and drove home to get the munchkin and get back in time for our ward Christmas party. That night we had a great time with our ward friends at the party and came home ready to relax. Saturday was a very rushed day, but of course ended up being tons of fun. I am glad we have made that first step in leaving Grace for a night because now I know she can handle it and equally as important, that I can handle it! We had such a good time seeing a show at Tuacahn that we have plans to go back and see another concert in March! This time we are making it a family affair and inviting all of Dave's siblings to join us.

Sour Puss

Grace is very sensitive to any sourness in the fruit she eats and makes this hilarious face almost every time she takes a bite. It is very entertaining!!

Two peas in a pod

Grace is always making us laugh, she is growing up at what seems like lightning speed and we are loving every minute. She lights up when Dave or I walk into the room and does a little "happy wiggle" on the floor. Mostly she sure loves her daddy. He knows just how to make her laugh and Grace is always fascinated with everything Dave does. In the morning when I get her out of bed and bring her into my room to eat she never fails to look around for Dave. When he is asleep she still smiles at him and pats his arm and when he is gone she will not eat until she is sure she has looked everywhere for him. These two are so cute together and Dave already is like Steve Martin in "Father of the Bride." I love my two dimple twins.

A PreHalloween Weekend

This last weekend was Halloween-tastic! Friday night us girls (and cute George!) attended Witches night out at Gardner Village and had a great time. We ate at Archibalds then walked around the cutesy stores. I have never seen so much costume creativity at one time! It was so fun to look around and see all the different witch outfits. The highlight must have been the man dressed up in the dress, wig and witch hat...I guess he didn't want to miss out on all the fun. At the end of the evening we made a stop at the fudge shop to pick out the tastiest desserts.



Then on Saturday night we had our ward trunk or treat where we ate yummy soup and scored on some candy with Grace. Grace was dressed as a strawberry (thanks to Jen!) so Dave and I thought it would be fitting for us to dress up as farmers. Grace was so cute, she just loved all the people in their costumes. She kept laughing at everyone and ended the night totally exhausted, but a trooper throughout the evening.



Finally we ended the weekend with a ghoulish dinner at the Swanson's house. We ate monster toes, mummies, bone chillin' breadsticks, rat cheese, hemorrhoid dip, witches brooms and much more tasty treats. We also did bobbing for apples and some pumpkin carving, well actually I didn't, I just watched, but it was still fun! It was so fun to get together and do a little Halloween celebrating because I just love this holiday!!

Fall Fun and Weezer

Yesterday was a great day! Grace and I headed up Little Cottonwood Canyon with Jen, Sam, Sally, Laurie, George and Hailey for lunch. We had fun taking Autumn pictures among the trees, drinking hot chocolate and just spending time in the outdoors before it gets too cold. We have had such an influx of kids in Dave's family over the last couple of years and I am loving watching them all grow up together! Here are a few pictures.








Then last night Dave and I went to the Weezer concert. Holy cow we had a fun time! I think one of the reasons Dave and I fell in love with each other was because of our mutual love of music and we have been sad not to be able to attend as many concerts as we would like in the last couple of years. So when we found out that Weezer was coming to town we could not pass up the opportunity. Grace was left in good hands with her Grammy and we headed to the show to meet up with Andy and Emily, Joe and Emily, Brittany and Sean and Nick and Rick. Angels and Airwaves was one of the opening bands and I have to admit that I was happy to see them leave the stage. Weezer opened with "My Name is Jonas" and continued on with their best hits and songs from The Red Album. We knew it was going to be a great show from the moment they pulled out the mini trampoline and came out on stage in white jumpsuits. By the end our legs were weak from standing for so long, but it was well worth it and I loved every minute.






Oh yes and a weight update for Grace from her 6th month appointment last Friday. She is now 18lbs 8oz and 27.6inches long. She is healthy and rolling around the whole house right now, so I better go get her!

Back in the 509

Last weekend Grace and I took a little trip to Spokane to visit family. My nephew Cameron was eagerly awaiting our arrival at the airport and he was Grace's little entertainer all weekend long. He did have a hard time when she cried in the car though and tried to fix the problem by plugging his ears! On Saturday we headed down to Lewiston, ID to visit my sister Becky and join them for her son Caleb's baptism. I got the whole family to keep my visit a secret, so I was able to surprise her! Caleb and Joshua also had a great time keeping Grace occupied. On Monday my sister Rachel and I went down to our old high school to see the renovations it has just been through. Wow it was so different! I kept getting all turned around because half of the halls have been reconfigured. We both felt at ease once we entered the older part of the building. The choir room is totally changed and the auditorium was chained shut. I was a little sad to see places I had spent so much time in as a teenager gone or totally changed. I have to admit that the new parts of the school are looking really cool and soon the new theater will start coming together. Rach and I spent the drive home reminiscing on high school traditions that we loved. It was fun singing old songs and cheers together. The whole weekend was a lot of fun and I am so glad I got a chance to visit my parents and that Grace had some bonding time with Nani and Nana, her cousins and her aunties and uncles!
